"Fruit Loop" Icing

On episode 1 of the Holiday Baking Championship, Chef Duff said my Cardamom Butter Cream Frosting tasted like Fruit Loops. Try out the recipe for yourself and see what you think!

#RedFlagMoment Tips:

  • Butter should be at room temperature
  • Zest - cold orange
  • Do not over beat - overbeating will break the buttercream and you will not be able to save it. Stop beating when it looks light and fluffy


  • 1 lb Butter (salted & room temp)
  • 7 cups Sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Bean Paste
  • ½ Orange Juiced
  • ¼ cup Whipping Cream
  • 1 Orange, Zested
  • 1 tsp Cardamom

Now let’s get started

Step #1: Combine butter and sugar
Step #2: Add all remaining ingredients
Step #3: Beat on low for 1 min
Step #4: Beat on high for 1 min
Step #5: Frost!
